GO AND PLAY STABLE
Go & Play Stable is an Equine Adoption Program whose goal is to help to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome Standardbred harness racing horses who are ready to find second careers away from the race track. We are a foster-based program, which means that our horses and our volunteers are based across Ontario - however our core base is in the Northumberland / Quinte West regions of Ontario.
Go & Play Stable was founded in 2011 by former racehorse groom Sarah Merriam (Waldram), and became a registered Canadian charity in 2013. In 2017, Sarah retired to focus on her family, and a new Board of Directors took over to continue the work that she had started.
Running solely on the donations of amazing individuals and businesses, as well as from fundraisers hosted frequently throughout the year, none of the members of Go & Play Stable receive any form of monetary compensation for the dedicated hard work that they do!
One of the goals of Go & Play Stable is to promote the use of the Standardbred breed for sport and pleasure riding, as well as educating the public on how the breed is suitable to do much more than just harness racing. We do this through being active in shows, events, and through our ambassador program.
In our adoption program, we aim to create the best possible matches for our horses and our adopters. Whether someone is looking for their next show mount, a beloved companion, or a steady trail horse - we will help everyone to find their perfect match!
